Electronic Books

The idea of electronic books may be somewhat alien to many readers. If you love the feel of turning a page in a book, you may not like ebooks. But there is no doubt that electronic books are becoming more popular every day.

When people first started reading online books, it was hard to believe the trend would catch on. And it was even harder to believe that reading electronic books on a hand held would be a viable option. Who wants to read tiny print on a tiny screen? How could that ever be enjoyable? Perhaps we failed to consider the faster pace of our world and the fact that those who love reading will always find a way to continue the habit, no matter how busy their schedule.  

Whatever the reason for the popularity of online books and ebooks, you can find electronic books on just about every subject today. Some businesses write and publish free books online to promote their services and products.  

While these ebooks may not be exactly like a business white paper or a business article in a trade magazine, they serve the same purpose. They give the business a chance to demonstrate knowledge on a topic, promote their staff skills and their products and hopefully get new clients in the process. For example, if your company sells software to manage a business help desk, your ebook might discuss the basic techniques and considerations involved in establishing a good telephone customer service support line.

Of course, there are electronic books on many other topics, including special interests like music, photography, quilting and sports. You can also find electronic books in the self-help and reference vein, e.g., parenting skills, baby’s first year, how to build a small business, and how to improve your relationships, how to decide on a career and much more.  

You can free electronic books on many subjects as well. These free books may be shorter and less informative than those you buy. Full length eBooks can range from fifty to two-hundred pages. If you are one of those people who buys electronic books and then prints them so you can read them, you will need a lot of paper and printer ink to make a copy of some of these books!  

Perhaps you found a book that sounded great and after you paid for the book online and completed the download and settled in to ready, you felt cheated by poor writing or content. But do not despair. There are some really great eBook authors out there and with a little research you can find the book you want.
